From 642 A.D. to date Egypt was invaded and governed by the First Arab invasion (building of palaces and Fortresses and the founding of Cairo), Second Arab Conquest, led by Saladin (introduction of Islam), rule from the Ottoman Empire and the eventual nationalisation of Egypt by Nasser in the 1950s.

 Narmer was the first king of Egypt in approx 3100 B.C. the archaeology evidence is from the Narmer Palette found at Hierakonpolis in Upper Egypt. The palette is double sided showing Narmer wearing the white crown of upper Egypt on one side and the red crown of lower Egypt on the opposite side, demonstrating Narmers domain over the twin lands.
