Classes

Classes at the Sussex Sword Academy are open to anyone over the age of 16. Our teaching structure is a combination of drilling and free play. A beginner can feel confident that they will not be introduced to any free play (fencing) until they are taught safe use of the rapier, how to defend themselves and feel fully confident to engage in freeplay. We encourage people to enjoy themselves whilst developing a knowledge of the "Art and Science of Defence".

Due to the nature of our instruction (we are not a fencing club), you are welcome to drop in, meet the students and instructors, watch a class and see whether you feel you would like to take part in the next class but please do not expect to take part on that day.

SRS CHANGE OF NAME

The Sussex Rapier School has been practicing many sword forms for a number years now and it has been decided by the Instructors to rename the School The Sussex Sword Academy to reflect more clearly what the SRS has become. Due to the fact that the SRS is well know in the European Martial Arts community we will introduce this change over time until we feel the new name has become well and truly established.
