Leatherwork - Doublet 1610
Based on the research by Janet Arnold. A 1610 "fencing" doublet made of kid leather. The pattern had to be altered quite a bit from Janet's drawings to achieve pattern pieces that fit together and finally represent the shape of the original. The padding on the main part of the torso has been pad stitched to the kid, the ribbed padding is stuffed tightly after the lines of stitching were in place. |

The trim is made up of a metallic thread and black silk ribbon. The Collar and sleeves are lined with black silk. The torso is lined with a cream linen. The buttons are made from metallic cast beads with a stem of waxed black cotton cord, then they are held in place with a length of the cord running down the inside of the doublet. |
