Stitch punchInstructions

Tools and materials needed:

Stitchpunch/awl
Strong Waxed cotton
4sq ft of leather (I used 1mm veg tan leather)
4ft of trim(the chioce is yours)

Punch all stitch holes. Sew the thumbs into the palm. Sew bottom and top of glove together (just the two edges). Attatch your insets as shown in diagram above.

Sewing in the thumb is the most confusing part so study this drawing carefully.

To construct the cuff sew the blind stitch seam first (see pattern) then sew onto the finished glove section with top stitch (the cuff is sewn on last).

Buttons hold the cuff closed, trim added for style.

A lining can be added for comfort using the same pattern. A simple solution is to buy (or find) a pair of thin cotton gloves and sew them into the gauntlet or just wear them underneath for easy washing.

Following the line of the braid on the cuff I have punched diamond shapes to reveal red satin glued in between the lining and the leather. The buttons are from Celestial Buttons, leather from M & W and the Punch Awl from Tandy Leather & Crafts.
