| At first the back and front were cut out from 6mm leather untreated hides. Then the two parts were put into boiled water that had been left to cool until tester pieces are bubbling but not burning. The use of water gives the leather a more "wooden" quality which makes it possible to carve like wood. I used a female body block as a mold, using cloth tape to bind the leather in place. The decoration was then carved and burnt into the leather. The goodness was then returned to the leather.
