When you Print out the pattern cut it out and try it on your forearm. Remember to take into account the thickness of your jacket you wear when fencing. The photo and pattern is for the right arm. Obviously flip over the pattern for the left arm if required.
Use 4 to 6mm veg tan leather depending on availability and protection required. Can be bought on ebay or at the Identity Store for example.
After cutting the leather out using pattern provided, drop the pieces into tap warm water and leave to soak for about 30 minutes until bubbles stop. Then p unch or cut holes for the buckle straps. Idealy the edges are then tapered using an edging tool. The curved edges protecting the elbow and the wrist are formed by hand whilst the leather is still wet. Leave on a radiator until dry.
Width of the straps and style of buckle depends on you.depends on you. |
